Only the best is good enough as we welcome the new year! That’s why we have chosen a lot of the sought-after Geisha coffee variety. This lot has undergone anaerobic fermentation before drying, resulting in a burst of tropical fruit tones.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Jhon “Jhonny” Alvarado and his family run four coffee farms in the Brunca region of Costa Rica. In 2015, they established their processing station, Corazon de Jesus, on a very tight budget and timeline. With help from friends, family, and—according to Jhon—from above, they succeeded, hence the name.

When visiting Corazon de Jesus, you’re greeted by the entire family, all actively involved in the management of the coffee farms and processing station. Together, they handle everything from harvesting and post-harvest processing to marketing and bookkeeping. While the family faced a tough start, they now produce over 800 sacks of coffee annually across their four farms.

ABOUT THE COFFEE
This is a lot of the sought-after Geisha coffee variety. Geisha has a beautiful elongated shape and a fresh character with a floral aroma and citrus notes in the flavor profile. This lot has undergone pre-fermentation after harvesting, meaning the coffee cherries are placed in a sealed container, such as a steel tank or plastic barrels, without oxygen, where they ferment before being de-pulped and dried. The anaerobic fermentation process contributes to the coffee’s tropical flavor notes of ripe papaya.
