Kaffa

Kaffa’s story begins with Robert W. Thoresen, who arrived in Norway with a suitcase and a dream after working as an architect in San Francisco. In 1997, he opened Java Espressobar & Kaffeforretning on St. Hanshaugen, which quickly became one of Oslo’s top coffee spots, known for its meticulous attention to quality.

Driven by a passion to create the best coffee, Robert expanded his vision, opening Mocca Kaffebar and Brenneri in 2001—a café and micro-roastery that laid the foundation for Kaffa’s roasting style and flavor profile. Kaffa was officially established in 2005 and has since grown into one of Norway’s leading specialty coffee roasteries, sourcing exceptional beans with full traceability.
