Austrått Kaffebrenneri, a small yet dedicated roastery, calls Sandnes, near Stavanger, Norway, home. This charming city boasts a rich industrial heritage, once famed for its brickworks and pottery, and later for textiles and bicycles.
Recently relocated to a brand-new roastery, Austrått continues to craft exceptional coffee, focusing on light roast profiles that preserve the beans’ natural character.
One could drink this all day long. Delicious and complex. One is struck immediately by the super-refreshing body and flavors: sweet dark berries and juicy green apple embedded in a body of black earth, caramel, and honey. Both the juicy fruit as well as the earthy textures linger together cleanly in the finish. The expertly-done Austrått roast has generated not even the slightest hint of bitterness, and the flavor profile as a whole manifests the best in ultraclean washed coffee. For this brew, the April beats the Origami: the former balances the acidity with low notes of earth and honey, while the latter accentuates the acidity. Regardless, this is coffee as it should be.
